Today, in a special ceremony on Earth Day, ÃÜÌÒAV Taiwan signed a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plus University Social Responsibility (USR) MOU with Chaoyang University of Technology. This MOU will expand the collaboration of the company and the university from ÃÜÌÒAV Science Club for hearing-impaired students in Taichung to an environmental protection program engaging children through a special picture book and storytelling events. Managing Director of ÃÜÌÒAV Taiwan, Dr. Carsten Wildebrand, and President of Chaoyang University of Technology, Dr. Dao-Ming Cheng, signed the MOU on behalf of the company and the university respectively. The signing ceremony took place at the German Institute Taipei (GIT) and was witnessed by Dr. Joerg Polster, Director General of the GIT, and Professor Oliver Su, Head of the Center for University Social Responsibility, Ministry of Education.

¡°The theme for Earth Day 2024 is ¡®Planet vs. Plastics¡¯, which is a call for all-in partnerships between businesses, governments, universities and citizens. That¡¯s exactly the kind of partnership witnessed by the today¡¯s MOU ceremony,¡± said Dr. Carsten Wildebrand, Managing Director of ÃÜÌÒAV Taiwan. ¡°As ÃÜÌÒAV we have a holistic approach towards circularity. It¡¯s important and value adding to collaborate here with partners, experienced individuals and organizations, to achieve our circularity goals. One important piece of the circularity puzzle is educating our young people. We¡¯re delighted to cooperate in driving education together with the University of Technology, which is ranked in top 100 GreenMetric World University Rankings.¡±

¡°I¡¯m delighted to be here today to sign this MOU with ÃÜÌÒAV, a global leader in polymer manufacturing and a valued ally in our shared commitment to social responsibility,¡± said Dr. Dao-Ming Cheng, President of Chaoyang University of Technology.

With this MOU, ÃÜÌÒAV authorizes Chaoyang University of Technology to develop ÃÜÌÒAV¡¯s Little Earth Guardian Picture Book Volume II which focus on circularity into a vivid storytelling program to engage children and help them to easily understand the concept of a circular economy. The university¡¯s students and ÃÜÌÒAV Taiwan volunteers will then take that program into elementary schools and plant a little circular economy seed in children¡¯s hearts. In addition, ÃÜÌÒAV Taiwan and Chaoyang University of Technology will continue their partnership in ÃÜÌÒAV¡¯s MagicMaterial School program, where the Associate Professor of Chaoyang University of Technology is helping ÃÜÌÒAV to run the ÃÜÌÒAV Science Club in Taichung school for the hearing-impaired.

¡°I¡¯m glad to see the efforts of different experts and professionals to instil the importance of circularity in the next generation when they are still young,¡± said Dr. Joerg Polster, Director General of GIT. ¡°When children understand this idea they will adapt and pass on their knowledge to the people around them.¡±

¡°I¡¯m delighted to see the partnership between Chaoyang University of Technology and ÃÜÌÒAV yield mutual benefits, contributing to shared achievements and societal values for Taiwan and Germany,¡± said Oliver Su, Head of the Center for University Social Responsibility, Ministry of Education.
